Writing for the Web - Getting to the Point
Scanners are busy people!
- They're only going to read around 25% of the words on your site.
- Check out this image that recorded where people look on an average site:
Red areas are where users looked the most.
What does this mean?
- Most users stop reading after the 1st 2 paragraphs of text.
- Lengthy intro paragraphs, mission statements, and general fluff will drown out your message! Don't use them.
- It's OK not to have a lot of words on your site.
