Degree Requirements:

1. Completion of the general studies requirements for the Bachelor of Arts - Art Education

2. Completion of the following required courses for K-12 licensure:

  • Ar 105: Intro to Art Criticism
  • Ar 206, 207: Design (6 credit hours)
  • Ar 208: Drawing (3 credit hours)
  • Ar 216: Intro to Art Education(3 credit hours)
  • Ar 220: Painting (3 credit hours)
  • Ar 240: Fiber or Ar 290: Metalsmithing (3 credit hours each)
  • Ar 250: Sculpture (3 credit hours)
  • Ar 260 or 261: Printmaking (3 credit hours each)
  • Ar 270: Ceramics (3 credit hours)
  • Ar 280: Beginning B & W Photography (3 credit hours)
  • Ar 281: Beginning Digital Photography (3 credit hours)
  • Ar 334: Elementary School Art Education Methods I (3 credit hours)
  • Ar 335: Secondary School Art Education II (3 credit hours)
  • Ar 364, 365, 366: History of Art (9 credit hours)

3. Completion of three hours from the following:

  • Ar 302: Graphic Communications (3 credit hours)
  • Ar 306: Design Problems (3 credit hours)
  • Ar 310: Graphic Design I (3 credit hours)

3. Completion of three hours from the following:


    4. Completion of nine hours in an Area of Emphasis.


      5. Completion of Professional Program in Teaching Education.


          6. Completion of departmental assessment procedures.


            7. Students may be excused from basic studio courses based on a portfolio of their work.
