“I came to Adams State because great stories indeed begin here. I was inspired by that when I was hired and I am still inspired by it today. Let your next great story begin here too.”
I am a social scientist who didn’t start out in business but I have always loved the interactions of people and their organizations.
Now, for over 30 years I have studied adults, generations, members of various professions, vocations, buyer trends, businesses, advocacy groups, gender, and voter blocks.
I came to Adams State in July of 2012, and serve as Professor and Chair of the School of Business.
Previously I have served as Associate Dean of the Central Wyoming
College campus in Jackson Hole, Director of George Fox University’s MBA
Program located in Boise, Idaho, and 13 years on the graduate faculty at
the University of Idaho, preparing leaders and improving organizations.
Back in the 1980’s I founded the Rocky Mountain Leadership Network, and then in the 90’s formed my own company and LLC.
I consult in leadership, critical thinking, and strategic communications, and served as a consulting trainer in Idaho’s Certified Public Manager Program for state leaders.
I love to write and have authored over 150 publications,
winning journalistic awards. For five years I wrote a weekly syndicated
Mid-career I had some great opportunities and my keynote speaking and teaching engagements took me across the United States, to London, England, and Taiwan.
I have taught at numerous leadership academies and institutes, working with professionals representing America's finest organizations. I've also taught graduate seminars on leadership and organizational theory on the Viking Serenade, of the Royal Caribbean Cruise Lines.
My Doctorate is in Administration from the University of Wyoming; I hold
a Master of Adult and Higher Education Degree from the University of
Central Oklahoma; and attended undergraduate studies at the University
of Oklahoma and Southern Nazarene University.
I have been a member and served as an officer of the National Association of Scholars, Mountain Plains Adult Education Association, the Institute of Applied and Behavioral Management, and numerous other organizations.
I am especially proud of my military service in the U.S. Army Airborne, and the 12th and 19th Special Forces Groups.
My wife (Sue) and I have homes in Colorado and Idaho, and greatly enjoy life in both locales, and always with our Golden Retriever, Libby.
So those are some of my favorite stories, I hope you begin your next one here at Adams State University.
