General Degree Requirements

General Information for the Bachelor's Degree at Adams State College

  • The bachelor's degree is conferred upon completion of a minimum of 120 semester hours of credit.
  • A cumulative scholastic average of 2.0 must be earned in all work attempted at Adams State College. All general education, major, minor, area of concentration, or teacher licensure requirements must be satisfied before a degree is awarded.
  • All students must demonstrate baseline technological proficiency by the end of the sophomore year. The requirement may be met by scoring 70% or higher on the ASC Technology Proficiency examination or by passing an approved course with a grade of a C or better. Courses meeting this proficiency are Bus 120 Business Computer Applications) and CSci100 (Introduction to Computers).
  • Not more than one-fourth of the credit required for the completion of a program of study may be taken in accredited extension and correspondence courses.
  • No 'D' grade may apply to a major or minor field.
  • Junior college credit beyond 60 semester hours plus four physical education hours may be accepted by ASC but will not apply toward the 120 semester hour requirement. Students must complete at least 60 semester hours after completion of the last junior college work.
  • All students need to take at least 42 hours of the 300 and 400 level courses.
