HPPE Facilities
A $10.6 million renovation of Plachy Hall began in the summer of 2007. The renovation included a new weight room and training area, new visiting team locker rooms, renovation of existing locker rooms, and roof replacement. A 12,000 square foot addition, along with extensive renovation of the existing 62,000 square feet, made Plachy Hall one of the finest athletic facilities in the region.
Plachy Hall currently contains four classrooms, with capacity to accommodate 165 students. Three are smart classrooms. The facility includes a large multipurpose field-house with an indoor track and a variety of activity stations. Plachy Hall also includes a main gymnasium, auxiliary gymnasium, weight-room, swimming pool, athletic training room and human performance laboratory.
Outdoor areas include two softball fields, two large areas for field sports, an all-weather track, and a football field. All indoor and outdoor areas are used as teaching stations.
In May of 2009, the department opened a new human performance laboratory by investing over $25,000.00 in technology. This facility includes the Parvo Medics 2400 metabolic cart, YSI Sports Lactate Analyzer, Quinton treadmill, FitnessAge fitness assessment computer, and other lab-related equipment.
