ASC Mathematics Placement Policy

Students entering Adams State College with an ACT mathematics score of less than 19 (470 SAT mathematics score) are required by the State of Colorado to take the ACCUPLACER Elementary Algebra Test prior to their first day of classes. Students who do not score at the appropriate level on this examination must successfully complete (grade of C or better) leveling courses through Math 099, Intermediate Algebra, within their first 30 hours at ASC.

Placement based upon ACT or SAT Scores

Entering students with an ACT mathematics score of 19 or higher who are not sure of their mathematics abilities are urged to see the Department Chair for guidance. Likewise, students with more than one option (based upon their ACCUPLACER, ACT, or SAT placement) should consider consulting with the Department Chair to decide which mathematics course is right for them.
