Adams State College Invitational Jazz Festival
The ASC Invitational Jazz Festival is an annual event hosted by James Doyle. The invitational provides an opportunity for middle school and high school ensembles to perform for top professional clinicians from throughout the country. In addition, each ensemble member will have the opportunity to attend numerous masterclasses, clinics, and performances by guest artists and the ASC faculty (including members of the Falconaires Jazz Ensemble from the USAF Academy Band).
Each ensemble presents a 30-minute performance followed by a 30-minute clinic. The guest clinicians and ASC faculty provide comment sheets and all clinics are videotaped for director referral.
Additional Clinics and Masterclasses are part of the festival offerings. Classes on improvisation, style, repertoire, and instrumental performances are presented by ASC faculty and guest artists.
Participant Fees are $80 per ensemble. More than one ensemble from each group are allowed, and jazz combos as well as big bands are encouraged to attend. Additional ensembles from the same school is $40. At this time, the ASC Jazz Festival is open to instrumental ensembles only.
