Four Year BSN Admission Info

* Complete application packets are due by Aug. 1 prior to the sophomore year. Students will receive notification of admission status by Nov. 1 of sophomore year. Late applications will be considered only on a space available basis. *

Four-year B.S.N. undergraduate students typically apply for admission with the Nursing Dept. at the end of their freshman year and enter the B.S.N. program their sophomore year.

Academic Requirements

  • Current admission/enrollment, in good standing, at Adams State College
  • Completion of 30 hours of required general education requirements for the B.S.N. program prior to application to program
  • Minimum cumulative and semester GPA of 3.00 upon admission and maintenance of a 2.5 GPA throughout remainder of B.S.N. program

B.S.N. Application Packet

Submit the following to ASC Nursing Department, 208 Edgemont Blvd., Alamosa, CO 81102:

  1. The B.S.N. Admission Application
  2. A 500-word essay addressing honesty, initiative and empathy.
  3. Two letters of recommendation (one from a professor and the other from a person in an authority position). Letters from relatives are unacceptable.
  4. A completed background check including a drug screen and fingerprinting. Students are required to submit to a random drug screening at their own expense. Fingerprints are required prior to admission and in the second semesters of both junior and senior years. Contact the Nursing Department for background check forms.
  5. Proof of current CPR certification
  6. Proof of nursing assistant course completion or NURS 179-Basic Nursing Skills.
  7. Proof of malpractice insurance by May 15 following first semester of nursing classes. Required throughout program enrollment.
  8. Demonstration of Technology Proficiency (Technology Proficiency Exam or CSCI 100 or BUS 120 with a grade of C or better)
