4 year BSN application DEADLINE has been EXTENDED to SEPT 15, '09
* Complete application packets are due by August 1 prior to the sophomore year. Students will receive notification of admission status by November 1 of sophomore year. Late applications will be considered only on a space available basis. *
Admission Requirements
- Current admission/enrollment, in good standing, at Adams State College
- Minimum of 3.0 GPA required after completion of all general education courses and nursing pre-requisites, acceptance will be CONDITIONAL to the final grade point average including course grades for the first semester of the Sophomore year.
- Schedule an advising appointment with the Department of Nursing by calling 719-587-8171
- Submit the following to ASC Nursing Department, 208
Edgemont Blvd., Alamosa, CO 81102:
- The B.S.N. Admission Application
- A 500-word essay addressing honesty, initiative and empathy
- Two letters of recommendation (one from a professor and the other from a person in an authority position). Letters from relatives are unacceptable.
- A completed background check including a drug screen and fingerprinting. Students are required to submit to a random drug screening at their own expense. Fingerprints are required prior to admission and in the second semesters of both junior and senior years. Contact the Nursing Department for background check forms.
- Proof of a physical exam and an updated immunization record.
- Proof of current CPR certification
- Proof of nursing assistant course completion or experience with basic patient care skills.
- Proof of malpractice insurance (required throughout program enrollment).
- Demonstration of Technology Proficiency (Technology Proficiency Exam or CSCI 100 or BUS 120 with a grade of C or better)
