Women's health care is my specialty and forensic nursing for victims of interpersonal violence is an area of interest. I believe it is nursing that will help move our present 'sickcare' model of medicine towards a 'healthcare' model. For too long, allopathic medicine has not only separated the body from the entirety of a person, but has also separated the body parts from one another.
Nurses are in the best position to assess the patient utilizing the concept of holistic health. The place to start in moving our healthcare system forward is with the nursing student.
