Aida Sahud
Director of Nursing

I was raised in Chicago and attended a three year diploma program at Mt. Sinai Hospital. Shortly thereafter, I moved to San Francisco and earned the following degrees:
BSN from Sacramento State University ( external degree program, a precursor to distance learning), an MSN from the University of San Francisco Medical center with a focus on Community and Mental Health. My Comprehensive exams were on Attitudes of the Nurse on Patients with Chronic Pain. I taught RN to BSN students Community Health Nursing, both Didactic and Clinicals at Holy Names University . After having taught at Holy Names, I returned to the University of California, Berkeley to study Behavioral Sciences and earned my MPH ( Master's in Public Health) and my Dr. in Public Health.
My dissertation was a cross- cultural study between the U.S. and Mexico on attitudes of aging and the aged. It was a seminal cross-cultural study. My fluency in Spanish made this a very rich study.
Being in the San Luis Valley being amongst the Hispanic, and Indigenous population here and the breathtaking geography, helps me to remember my goal of bringing Nursing Education to the valley and once again focusing on making a contribution to the community.
