Educational Excellence for English Language Learners

Project EXCELL is a 5-year Title III National Professional Development grant primarily designed to provide highly qualified teachers for Colorado public schools. The grant's priority will be to provide graduate training for teachers in the Alamosa, Pueblo 70, Roaring Fork and Cortez school districts that leads to the Linguistically Diverse Education endorsement.

Dr. Joel Judd of the Teacher Education Department will be the project director and principal investigator. Dr. Sheryl Ludwig will direct the activities of a Southern Colorado Education Consortium (SCEC), which seeks to bring together regional education entities, such as local school districts, Boards of Education, community organizations, and Adams State College faculty. This consortium will focus on creating a greater sense of community among all students, their families, and the schools that serve them.
