Theatre Scholarships and Auditions
We distribute more than $11,000 in scholarships and grants each year!
The Acting Talent Scholarship is awarded to an incoming freshman and is worth $1,000 each year for four years. Drama teachers and directors from Colorado are eligible to nominate seniors in high school, who then audition in February for this generous scholarship. Ask your drama teacher to nominate you in January. The faculty are also able to award substantial Theatre Activity Grants to those auditioners who show great potential. Theatre Scholarships are also available to returning students and are awarded based on need, potential and/or talent. Theatre Activity Grants are awarded to all majors at the beginning of each semester. Typical awards are $150 or more per semester and are cash awarded directly to you.
A note from the Program Director...
If you want to be a theatre or theatre education major at a liberal arts university, I want you to audition for our program. We are offering two theatre scholarships - awards of $1,000 - renewable annually for three additional years. We also offer other substantial financial awards to incoming freshmen. These scholarships are not dependent on high school rankings, on test scores, or on financial need, but on talent.
If you are a graduating senior, please ask your Drama or English teacher to nominate you. A Nomination Form is available for download (PDF). Send it to me, postmarked, faxed, or emailed not later than Thursday, January 31, 2013. After you return the form to us, we will individually contact you with information about the competition.
The Scholarship Auditions are scheduled on Thursday, February 7, 2013 on the Adams State University campus. Auditions consist of two contrasting, memorized monologues totaling less than 4 minutes in length. Or, you may present a portfolio of technical work. In addition to the auditions, we invite you to join us for a day of activities including attending classes, an improv workshop, and a student directed production in our Xperimental Theatre.
I look forward to meeting you in February.
