What on EARTH?
(04-21-2009)
The campus EARTH group (Environmental Action for Resources, Transportation and Health) sponsored a variety of events for Earth Week, April 13-17. Heavy snow April 17 caused two Earth Week events to be rescheduled:
The river clean-up is rescheduled for Friday, May 1, from 2 - 4 p.m. Participants should meet at the State Ave. Bridge.
The Very Fun 5K will be held Saturday, May 2, at 9:30 a.m., with registration starting at 9 a.m. Cost for the 5K is $5 and includes a t-shirt, breakfast, and a chance to win over $100 in prizes.
More than 100 people attended Earth Week's kick-off event, a variety/talent show Prizes went to Zach Burrell, first place; Dan Carver and Ian Helman, second place; Dr. Marjorie Herrington, third place; and Paul Kobe, Judges Choice. Thanks go out to the judges: Dr. Frank Novotny, associate provost for Adams State College; Suzanne Shriber, SLV Ecosystem Council; and Dr. Jared Beeton, assistant professor of earth sciences.
EARTH's reduce/reuse/recycle garage sale netted nearly $300 to benefit the EARTH group.
- Thanks to Kristen Zagranski and the Sodexo Staff, the cafeteria is now going completely trayless. The initiative was introduced in February and seems to be going well

It will include a seminar on the evening of May 10, with the hands-on workshop May 11, and wrap-up on May 12.
