Software Updates

(03-24-2009)

The week of March 23, Computing Services is using its Desktop Management System to remotely install updated and safe versions of such programs as Adobe Reader and Flash, Firefox, Thunderbird and others. PC users will be notified prior to any installation. (MAC users will not be affected by these installations.) Outdated software programs have some very serious security vulnerabilities, and are at risk from hackers and other risks on the internet.

Computing Services will be remotely installing Office 2007 on all employee computers beginning the week of May 18. It has been running in the labs and TEC Classrooms for nearly a year; beta testing with a large group of faculty and staff has shown very few issues. The feedback has been great, and most people find the new interface to be very user friendly.

If you would like to go to Office 2007 before May 18, or have any questions or concerns, please contact Kevin Daniel with the name of your computer or call the Computing Services Helpdesk at ext. 7741.
