Psych students present research
Dr. Brent M. King, professor of psychology, and a current and former student presented two papers at The Association for Psychological Science's 21st annual conference, held recently in San Francisco. He and senior Wendy M. Kane presented "Alcohol and Recognition: Does Intoxication Increase the Rates of False Identifications?" For the project Kane assisted in anaylysis of work King completed elsewhere. King and Amanda L. Salazar presented "Going to Extremes: Extraversion, Introversion, and Emotional Intelligence." Salazar earned her BA in 2006 and MA in 2008; the work presented was from her honors senior thesis.
Monumental experience
Paid art students learned the skills of monument-making while assisting Dana Provence, assoc. professor of art, in constructing a new granite and stainless steel Music sign. This is the first in a long-range campus resigning plan.
Health Care Administration on course in Pueblo
Twenty new students are enrolled in ASC's Health Care Administration Program at the Pueblo Community College. The program is being taught by professional health care administrators and School of Business faculty. The program allows associate degree holders to students earn a bachelors degree while remaining at PCC.
ASC counselor education online program receives accreditation
Now in its third year, the online counseling master's degree program was recently accredited through the Council for Accreditation of Counseling and Related Education Programs (CACREP).Dr. Susan Varhely, chair of the counselor education department, said the site visit last November was "very positive" and the accreditation team was "incredibly complimentary" and impressed with the online program. "They said we are leaders in online delivery for counselor education." Read more.
