Students of Concern Update
(09-16-2009)
The Students of Concern Committee seeks to identify and intervene with students whose behavior represents a threat to themselves or others. To be effective, the group encourages faculty and staff to report concerns to the committee when they encounter students who are distressed, disturbed, or dysregulated.
For the first time, the committee may mandate psychological assessment for students whose behaviors indicate they are a threat to themselves or others. ASC partners with the SLV Mental Health Center for this service. The group is completing a draft of the Suicide Prevention/Mental Health policy for submission to the cabinet.
