(09-16-2009)
Adams State hosted a visit Sept. 1 by staff of the U.S. Satellite Laboratory to further discuss the possibility of collaborating on a master's with an emphasis in STEM instructional curriculum (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics).
Dr. Don Johnston, associate provost of the ASC Graduate School, said, "The potential of this project is really big. It would bring national attention to ASC, and give us access to NASA databases and other technology."
U.S. Satellite currently works with Extended Studies to provide five courses for The Endeavor Science Teaching Certificate Project. Sponsored by NASA, U.S. Satellite seeks to promote a change in practice for teachers across the nation, while utilizing technology in the classroom.
Founder and President of U.S. Satellite, Glen Schuster, said it is a high priority to provide a long-term master's program in partnership with ASC for hundreds of NASA Endeavor Fellows. He and a staff member met with ASC staff of Extended Studies, Neilsen Library, Graduate Studies, and Teacher Education.
