Latest Updates From Computing Services (08-05-05)
Computing Services has been very busy this summer. Wireless has been installed in Petteys, McCurry, Savage, Houtchens, Moffat, and Faculty Drive. We are running 802.11g wireless network. Wireless is also located in the Student Union Building and School of Business.
We have implemented CISCO Clean Access which will ensure that users keep their computers up to date with the standard security protection. This include Anti-virus software, and Windows Service Pack 2 updates, Hotfixes and Firewall are also installed. If you do not have Anti-Virus installed you will be requested to install McAfee which is provided by the college. This will be used by all students living on campus who would like to access the internet.
The Adams State College web site was also changed, so be prepared for a new layout and navigation systems. Spend sometime looking around the One Stop page because this is where you will find access to school services, evaluations, and your email. To locate this page go to www.adams.edu click on the icon for One Stop. The One Stop page has areas much like One Stop in the Student Union Building. There is Registration and Records, Billing Information, and Financial Aid. These were all in Portal under School Services. When you get done with this page make sure you logout so that other students cannot see your information.
Go check out Nelson Library Lab on the 2nd floor it has had a make-over this summer. New computers, new furniture, and a beautiful mural on the wall. This was done so that the there are more computers available for students, faculty, and staff research.
All student labs are now running Microsoft Office 2003. Three Macintosh computers have been added to the Student Union Building 24hr Lab.
