Position Description:
This is a twelve-month exempt, at-will, full-time position. The Academic Executive Director will oversee all academic-related processes and programs for Extended Studies. This will include leadership and oversight in the areas of distance learning faculty development, program development, expansion of degree and certificate programs, grant acquisition, needs assessment, and quality assurance.
The successful job candidate will work directly with the Associate Provost of Extended Studies to provide high quality educational opportunities that are relevant, timely, and innovative. Travel is required.
ASC Extended Studies (ES) Executive Staff Core Responsibilities:
- Align ES initiatives with Adams State College (ASC) Mission and Goals
- Align ES initiatives with the Extended Studies Mission and Strategic Priorities
- Administer ES processes
- Implement academic quality control processes
- Supervise and train staff
- Administer Colorado Department of Higher Education and Adams State College policies
- Support strategic initiatives
- Ensure accountability and compliance
- Collaborate with all ES internal and external partners and stakeholders.
Specific job responsibilities:
- Provide strategic leadership in the development and delivery of high quality educational programs and courses.
- Collect pertinent data and prepare reports.
- Research trends in distance delivery of educational programming.
- Assist with educational policy development.
- Oversee instructor recruitment and training processes.
- Supervise course and instructor evaluation processes.
- Manage the development processes for online courses.
- Represent ES at meetings and events.
- Contribute to strategic planning initiatives.
- Support student retention and enrollment growth initiatives.
- Review and approve courses and instructors.
- Seek, develop, acquire, and manage appropriate grants.
- Support ES marketing initiatives.
- Work collaboratively with various ASC units to align ES initiatives with the campus strategic plan.
Required Qualifications:
- Master's Degree in Education or related academic discipline
- Curriculum development experience
- Knowledge of adult learning theory and practice
- Successful teaching experience
- Knowledge of off-campus development and delivery of programs
- Successful administrative experience and strong supervisory skills
- Strong analytical skills
- Excellent communication skills
- Exceptional organizational skills
- Technology proficiency including computer literacy, spreadsheet, e-mail, internet, and word processing
- Proven ability to work effectively as a team member
- Ability to work effectively with academic departments, partner agencies, statewide professional organizations, staff, and students
- Ability to perform job responsibilities
- Ability to travel
Preferred Qualifications
- Ph.D./doctoral degree
- Successful higher education teaching experience
- Experience developing and teaching online courses
- Successful grant acquisition and management experience
Salary and Benefits:
$55,000 - $65,000. Adams State College offers a competitive benefits program.
