Assistant Professor of Music/Director of Choral Activities

Starting Date:August 21, 2008.
Position Description:
To provide leadership for the choral program, conduct Concert Choir, Chamber Choir, and Jazz Singers; teach additional courses as needed in area of expertise, such as applied voice, music literature, conducting or music education. The teaching load is equivalent to 12 credits per semester.
Qualifications:
Candidate must possess an earned doctorate in music (ABD considered) and the ability to discharge the responsibilities described above. Candidates must provide evidence of successful teaching, conducting, and choral program development at the high school or college level. The successful candidate will also demonstrate a strong commitment to recruiting, retention, and actively working with public school music educators.
Appointment:
A one-year, visiting appointment beginning August 14, 2008. Rank: Assistant Professor. Salary commensurate with degrees and experience; full benefits package.
The Music Department
consists of seven full-time and six part-time faculty, serving approximately 80 music majors and more than 450 students annually through courses, lessons, and ensembles. The Department offers the Bachelor of Arts degree, with emphases in Performance and Liberal Arts and the Bachelor of Arts in Music Education degree, leading to K-12 certification. The ASC Department of Music, designated a "Program of Excellence" by the Colorado Commission on Higher Education, is a member of the National Association of Schools of Music. Adams State College
