Personal Vehicle Use
Effective January 1, 2009, the reimbursement rate for use of a personal vehicle is currently $.50/mile. A higher reimbursment rate applies (currently $.53/mile) if road conditions require four-wheel drive vehicle use. Justification for use of 4wd must be provided and the higher reimbursement rate will only be paid for the distance where 4wd was necessary.
The reimbursement rate for use of a personal vehicle from July 1, 2008 through December 31, 2008 was $.53/mile, and $.56/mile for 4WD.
If your trip spans the end of December and the beginning of January, the mileage will need to be broken out to reflect the rate of $.53/mile in December and the new rate of $.50/mile in January.
