1950's

Joyce (Goehl) Matthews '56 received her MA from Northern Arizona University. Her husband Bill Matthews '56, '62 has a PhD from the University of Nebraska. They are both retired and doing some traveling- especially on cruises. They have 3 children and 7 grandchildren.

1960's

Robert D. Pollard '61 is retired, living in Arizona in the winter, Colorado in the summers. He is serving on Adams State's Foundation Board. He is enjoying life!

Jim Workman '61 retired to Sun City, AZ, in 1998. He is a member of the Illinois High School Baseball Coaches Hall of Fame.

Rudy Basovsky '62 and his wife Sharon snowbird in Arizona from January to May. Otherwise, they live in Illinois.

John Spencer '62 and Connie Spencer '63, '66 are having a good time being snowbirds and experiencing the tri-maintenance plan at their three places in Alamosa, South Fork and Mesa, AZ. Which is their favorite place? It simply can't be resolved at this point in their lives! They are glad to have a part of ASC no matter where they are!

Dennis Nash '62 and his wife Linda remain in Wisconsin during the summers, but they snowbird in Florence, AZ from November thru April. They attended the Alumni luncheon in Phoenix in March. Dennis said, "We always enjoy reconnecting with Adams State alumni and staff!"

Sherrie (Bennett) Maule '63 has retired after 35 years of teaching physical education in Scottsdale, AZ.

Yvonne Moulton '65 has been married 41 years to a very compatible man, mother to two sons as different as night and day. She has been a member of Beta Sigma Phi, the Avondale's Woman's Club and the Decadent Dames Chapter of the Red Hat Society. She works as a substitute teacher and has worked with all classes K-12. She says, "I love variety!"

Michael Sloan '65 is an investment broker with Edward Jones since 1999. He lived in Alamosa until 1991 when he relocated to Arizona. He is single with 7 children, 30 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren.

Hollis Van Bockern '65 has been appointed as Director of Business Development for OH Logistics and will be working from the Chicago, IL area. Van Bockern has almost 30 years of industry experience, and is one of the industry's most successful executives. He is a member of CSCMP, served in the U.S. Army and has a BA from Adams State College.

Paul Rahne '66 retired from teaching in 1996 and now is traveling as much as possible. He enjoys hunting, fishing and gardening. He has been married to his wife Nancy for 27 years and is enjoying life to the fullest.

John Pim '67 retired in January 2006 from Computer Sciences Corp as a mainframe scheduler and is living in Fort Worth, TX.

Rondaleen Specht '67 retired from teaching in California in 1997. She moved to Sun City, AZ. She does bookkeeping for elderly clients, takes care of her 93 year-old mother-in-law, teaches early morning religion classes to high school students, and play mini-golf.

Beverly Barton '69 retired after teaching at Pikes Peak Community College for 27 years. She has begun a second career as a real estate broker in Colorado Springs.

Priscilla Gibson '69 lives in Sun City, AZ, in the home her parents purchased in 1971. She is an independent distributor with Reliv International, helping families with finances and health as they build home-based businesses. She also volunteers for legal services, children's liturgy, Habitat for Humanity, Republican campaigns and elections boards.

1970's

Camila Alire '70, dean of library services for the University of New Mexico, is serving as president of the Association of College and Research Libraries (ACRL). A six-year member of the ALA Council, and a three-year member of the ALA Executive Board, Alire has held numerous positions in ALA and ACRL. Prior to coming to the University of New Mexico in 2001, Alire was the dean of university libraries at Colorado State University. She received her Bachelor of Arts degree from ASC and her Master's of Library Science from the University of Denver. Alire also received her doctorate in higher education administration from the University of Northern Colorado.

Jo Ann (Bauserman) Bedia '75 has been a paraeducator for the past 6 years at Aragon Elementary in the special ed preschool. She lived in Vermont for 16 years. She is now divorced and living in Colorado Springs. She has 3 sons, Brad 27, Shawn 23 and Steve 20. She said she has been loving life every day.

Pam Jacobsen '76 has been nominated by Altrusa International of Pueblo for the Outstanding Women Award. She is the director and principal at Southern Peaks Regional Treatment Center in Canon City.

Rodger Bell '73 and wife Catherine Bell '74 met at ASC and have been married since 1973. They have great memories of their 4 years at Adams State. They visited the campus in September and are glad to be reconnecting with ASC after 30+ years.

1980's

Aimee Martinez '80 has been married to husband Jerome since 1980. She has 2 sons - Nic 19 and Alex 16. Son Alex plans to attend ASC in the fall of '08.

Carolyn (Bazanele) Wilson '82 is finishing her 22nd year of teaching elementary general/vocal music in School Dist 11, Colorado Springs. Her choirs have been honored three times with performances at the CMEA conference, as well as performances for the Colorado Dept of Education and the ARC of Colorado Springs Benefit Concert. She holds a MA from the University of Phoenix and is pursuing an Administrative position in Colorado Springs.

Ron Wilson '82 is finishing his 21st year of teaching vocal music at Fountain-Fort Carson High School. Ron's choirs have performed well in state contests and his Trojanaires were selected to perform at the 2005 CMEA conference.

Lori (Meade) Maag '84 is married to Dan Maag. They have a 3-yr-old Matthew Ryan.

Karen Gergely-Martinez '85 has an 8-yr-old daughter Amanda. She and husband Gary Martinez '87 were married in 2004. She is a Payroll Accountant and Gary is a Social Studies teacher for Denver Public Schools. Although they live in Aurora, CO, they have a ranch in Antonito, CO, and visit the San Luis Valley often.

Sharon Bernal-Maestas '86 has been named director of the Verizon Wireless call center in Columbia, SC. Maestas directs more than 1,400 employees and leads all aspects of customer service operations. She also oversees technical support, customer retention, and training.

Esther (Lozano) Velasquez '89 Morrison Co, received her MBA with an emphasis in Finance and Accounting from Regis University in December, 2005. She is employed as an accountant with the Bureau of Land Management in Lakewood, CO.

1990's

Rick Robirds '90 has been married to wife Lisa for 15 years and has 3 children-Kayla 14, Bethany 12 and Jacob 6. He is employed at Al Serra Chevrolet/Hummer and recently started as an EMT-Firefighter for Black Forest Fire Rescue.

Michael Scarbrough '91 is currently the VP-IT Senior Audit Manager with Wells Fargo in Phoenix. He developed a risk assessment framework for audition Business Intelligence environments currently in the foster care to adopt process with the State of Arizona.

Gaylene (Goodwin) Horning '94 is married to Todd Horning '92 and living in Alamosa. They have two boys, Zachary 8 and Garrett 6. Gaylene has recently come back to work at ASC after being home for 9 years. She is the Program Assistant in the Alumni Relations office. She is thrilled to be back at ASC and is looking forward to seeing everyone at Homecoming and other alumni events this coming year!

Derrick Padilla '94 has been selected as Pueblo Community College's Coordinator of Recruitment and Retention. Derrick has been with PCC for almost a year as a Financial Aid advisor and has been active in a variety of campus committees. Derrick's administrative work in higher education began in ASC's admissions office where he worked after graduating in ASC with a Business Management degree.

Robert Wright '97, '05 a 31-year-old Colorado elementary school physical ed teacher and coach, and an avid, runner, has been chosen for Texas Ranch House, the PBS reality program about cowboy life. He's no stranger to working outdoors, having spent his early childhood on a farm in Kansas. His family later moved to a ranch in New Mexico. Rob relocated to Colorado in 1992 to attend Adams State College. He and his wife, Michele, live in Arvada.

Heather (Egolf) Albritton '99, '00 and Mike Albritton welcomed a new addition to their family on February 10, 2006. Haley Jo Albritton was 5 lbs. 12.9 oz. and 18 1/2 inches. "Her big sister and mama and papa are so happy to meet her."

2000's

Bruce Anderson '01 and Nicole (Bogner) Anderson '01 welcomed their first baby, Amelia, on June 22, 2005.

Chris Westrook '02 and his fellow shipmates completed a scheduled deployment while assigned to the guided-missile cruiser USS Chosin, homeported in San Diego. USS Chosin conducted Maritime Security Operations (MSO) and participated in exercise Bright Star 2005 along with France, Germany, Greece, Italy, the United kingdom, the Netherlands, Pakistan, Jordan, Kuwait and Saudi Arabia. In exercise Bright Star 2005 multinational ground forces trained and acquainted each other with tactics and equipment to improve international military cooperation. Chosin also trained to engage international terrorists as it conducted visit, board, search, and seizure events, which were intended to detect, deter and deny international terrorist organizations use of the maritime environment. MSO sets the conditions for security and stability in the maritime environment, as well as complements the counter-terrorism and security efforts of regional nations. MSO denies international terrorists use of the maritime environment as a venue for attack or to transport personnel, weapons or other materials. USS Chosin is an Aegis equipped cruiser able to engage in offensive actions against the enemy through employment of long-range anti-shipping missiles, land attack missiles and naval gunfire. Westbrook is a 2002 graduate of Adams State College, with a BA degree. Heidi Dolan '03 is currently working for Aurora Public Schools as an Educational Assistant for the Alternative Center. She also recently began pursuing her Masters in Special Education. She says, "I am so proud to be an ASC Alumni and hope all my peers are doing great!"

Jennifer Garcia '03 works for the Early Reading First program as a Bilingual Program Specialist at the Clayton Institute.

Stephanie Duval '04 is a recent graduate with a new daughter. She now has two children. She says it's a great beginning for her new teaching career.

Relene Harmon '04 is working at Mulliken Weiner Karshberg & Jolivet, P.C. as a paralegal in Colorado Springs.

Brandon Leslie '04 had a very strong end of 2005 and is now having an even stronger 2006, highlighted by an excellent finish at February's USA Track and Field Winter Cross Country Championships in New York. His performance there will provide him the opportunity to represent the United States as a member of Team USA at the World Cross Country Championships in Japan April 1 - 2. Leslie is focused on becoming one of the best American runners representing the Navajo Nation. He continues to set personal bests in events in which he enters. At Adams State College, he achieved eight All-American titles and nine All-American titles at Southwestern Indian Polytechnic Institute. In addition, he was ASC and SIPI's Most Valuable Player and inducted into the Adams State Sports Hall of Fame in 2001. After college, Brandon has run for the Native American Sports Councils' Sports Warriors and trained with Team Running USA in Mammoth Lakes, Calif. As a husband, father of three and athlete, Leslie remembers the great American Indian runners Jim Thorpe and Billy Mills, who continue to inspire his quest to excel in running.

Ian Jakalow '05 is peacefully enjoying life in Denver as a software engineer.
