2014 ASU Equity Retreat
CIELO Working Group & Title V Institutional Grant
The Title V Institutional Grant and the CIELO Working Group, as collaborators, are working closely together in planning the upcoming ASU Equity Retreat (formerly CELT Institute). We are currently seeking faculty and staff interested in attending a two part event; the ASU Equity Retreat - Foundations & Allies and Advocates, begins at 9:00 a.m. Monday July 14, 2014 – ending Friday July 18, 2014 at 12:00 p.m. This week-long, two part institute embraces ASU's efforts in achieving inclusive excellence, cultural responsiveness, and building leadership for equity. The Retreat is the cornerstone of the work that the CIELO Working Group does throughout the year.
The first retreat, ASU Equity Retreat: Foundations, will be held in Alamosa between 9 – 6 on Monday, July 14, and Tuesday, July 15. Apply to attend the first retreat if you have not had the opportunity to participate in prior ASU Equity Retreats (including CELT) or other formal equity training. This retreat will focus on tools for equitable communication and perspectives on equity. There will be a stipend available unless you are a full-time employee over the summer.
ALLIES & ADVOCATES
The second retreat, ASU Equity Retreat: Allies and Advocates, will be a residential retreat held in San Luis from Wednesday, July 16, to Friday, July 18, with an orientation at ASU the evening of July 15th. Apply to this retreat if you intend to participate in the first retreat and/or have participated in prior formal diversity training. This retreat will focus on deepening your understanding of equity and diversity issues and on further developing leadership strategies to shape ASU as an HSI and as a model of Inclusive Excellence. Because this is an off-campus retreat, with full participation expected, a stipend is available for all participants.Consider attending both retreats. They are back to back, and Tuesday evening will include a mixer for attendees of both retreats. Participants must be present for the entire retreat (not commute from Alamosa). Due to the limited number of slots for participants, we highly recommend that you submit your application as soon as possible. The application deadline is May 12, 2014, and selected retreat participants will be notified by May 16, 2014.
