Focus the Nation
Adams State College will join hundreds of educational institutions across the country to participate in "Focus the Nation". Focus the Nation is a non-partisan, nonprofit organization that does not advocate specific policies. The purpose of this national event is to address environmental issues, including climate change, and call for a clear plan of action.
On Wednesday, January 30th, ASC will participate in a national, live, interactive Webcast called "The 2% SOLUTION". Stanford University climate scientist, Stephen Schneider, sustainability expert Hunter Lovins, green jobs pioneer Van Jones and youth climate leaders will lead a discussion of global warming solutions. The Webcast will be held at ASC School of Business, Room 142 from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. Students and community members are encouraged to attend this free, interactive event.
Natural resource presentations ranging from the global to the local levels will be held throughout the day on Thursday, January 31st from 8:30 a. m. to 4:30 p. m. at Carson Auditorium. Dr. Mari Centeno, Assistant Professor of Government, will kick the event off by presenting Environment and International Security. Ms. Christine Canaly of the SLV Ecosystem Council give an overview of how the choices we make will impact us locally. ASC Community Partnerships and a multi-disciplinary ASC faculty team are coordinating this event. For more information call ASC Community Partnerships at 587-7372.
