High Quality Physical Education: It IS Academic!

Two problems facing Colorado schools include poor student achievement and obesity. Research shows that high quality physical education promotes student achievement and reduces obesity. The Rocky Mountain Prevention Research Center's Healthy Eaters Lifelong Movers Project is promoting physical activity in the K-12 curriculum and recently Adams State University has joined in partnership to expand that to the university setting. We will share a research-based, standards aligned curriculum that promotes high quality physical education, moderate to vigorous physical activity, and student achievement across the curriculum, as well as tools and techniques for pre-service and in-service teachers and college faculty, and practical examples of instructional strategies.

Read the White Paper

applied to promote better learning in the k-12 classroom. The certificate
consists of two workshops and three online courses. Courses are offered in a
semester based format as well as an open enrollment format.

Students may
