Satisfactory Academic Progress

Adams State College is dedicated to ensuring students have every opportunity to achieve their educational goals. To encourage successful degree completion in a timely manner, academic progress is reviewed at the end of every term.

Probation

Students are placed on probation if: 1. their cumulative GPA is lower than 2.0 and/or 2. less than 75 percent of their attempted hours are completed. To help improve academic progress in subsequent semesters, students on probation can continue to take courses but must complete the Success Strategy Agreement with their assigned academic advisor. NOTE: Students who receive financial aid will have their aid eligibility on hold until a completed Success Strategy Agreement is submitted and reviewed.

Academic Suspension

Students on probation who have attempted 36 or more credit hours at ASC with a cumulative GPA below a 2.0 will be placed on academic suspension for one semester. Students may not attend classes while on academic suspension. To appeal academic suspension, students must submit a letter to the Office of Student Affairs.

Financial Aid Suspension

Federal regulations require undergraduate students at Adams State who have financial aid to complete their degree within 180 credit hours. Students with more than 180 credit hours will be placed on financial aid suspension, which means they can still attend classes but will not have financial aid for educational costs. To appeal this suspension, students must meet with their advisor to review their degree plan and complete the Financial Aid Suspension Appeal Form.
