School Counseling

The School Counseling Program prepares counselors for work in the K-12 school. School counselors are a vital part of the schools' academic team. School Counselors assist other professional staff in ensuring high levels of academic achievement for all students in the school system. The school counselor is prepared to accomplish these tasks through skill development in counseling, consulting, advocacy, and collaboration with community and parental partners.

To become a licensed school counselor in Colorado the student need not hold a teacher license. Upon completion of this approved MA program and successful completion of the appropriate state PLACE examination, the student can be licensed as a K-12 school counselor in Colorado
