Graduate Admission Criteria

General Criteria for ALL Masters Programs

Completed application for graduate study, including Form B, C, D, or E if applicable
$30.00 non-refundable application fee
Official transcripts from degree granting institution(s) sent directly to the Graduate School
In general, Departments require a 2.75 GPA. Graduate Teacher Education requires a 3.0 in the last 60 hours of undergraduate coursework. History, Government, & Philosophy requires a 3.0 in undergraduate History coursework.
- Master's level coursework may be taken into consideration.
- If the applicant does not have a 2.75 or higher, individual Departments may have additional requirements. Please check the catalog or Department link for further details.

Two letters of recommendation from supervisory sources
A portfolio consisting of 10-20 slides, photographs, or original work showing two or more media
Additional information may be requested

Two recent letters of recommendation from professional sources addressing the applicant's ability to become a counselor
A personal statement addressing past helping experiences, future goals in helping professions, and personal qualities that will enable the individual to become an effective counselor; 3-5 pages long, typed, double-spaced
GRE or MAT test scores. Required minimum scores are:
- Before October, 01, 2002
  - GRE=1250
  - MAT=37
- After October 01, 2002
  - GRE=900
  - MAT= 390

Two letters of recommendation addressing the applicant's potential for success in the degree, licensure, or endorsement program. One letter must be from a person in a supervisory or evaluative capacity. The remaining letter should be from another professional who is familiar with the applicant's qualifications. All letters should be submitted on school letterhead, must be originals less than a year old, and signed by the person giving the recommendation
A letter of intent from the student explaining why he/she wishes to be in the program, including goals, accomplishments, and experience.
Copy of current Colorado Provisional or Professional Teaching License (except Master's Plus)
