Playground to perform at Adams State College
The Adams State College Music Department presents "The Playground" in concert at 2 p.m. Friday, April 9, in Leon Memorial Hall. They are a new music ensemble that performs a wide variety of contemporary chamber music. A master class will follow the performance. The events are free and open to the public.
In addition to performing traditionally notated music, the ensemble challenges the perception of classical music by performing music that is improvised and spontaneously composed. This concert will feature a work by the Playground's director Conrad Kehn as well as pieces by Matthew Schildt, Sylvia Hazlerig, Morton Feldman, Robert Moran, and others. A master class will follow the performance.
According to the website, laygroundensemble.org, the Playground ensemble promotes the music of our time through performance, new music commissions, education, and community outreach. Our goal is to provide stimulating performances, expand common perceptions of both contemporary music and the chamber ensemble, and nurture a community around this music that we love.
