Second annual Hispanic Heritage Day is Sept. 6 (08-28-08)

The second annual Hispanic Heritage Day is from noon until 4 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 6 in Cole Park. The event is made possible because the following generous sponsors: Valley Wide Health Systems, Alamosa State Bank, Colorado Welcome Center, in conjunction with the Adams State College Athletic Department and ASC Community Partnerships.

Hispanic Heritage Day will follow the Joe I. Vigil Invitational cross country race, starting at 9 a.m. at the Cattails Golf Course.

The afternoon will feature a variety of food vendors, music, dancing, and a diversity of Hispanic artists, displays, and demonstrations including Raizes del Valle, Los Cancioneros del Valle, Espiritu Maya, Semillas de la Tierra, Adams State College Salsa Group (with free lessons), Eppie Archuleta, Carlos Atencio, Dolores Valdez de Pong, Maria Clara Martinez, Pepitas, Suzanne Quintana, Theresa Vigil, Sandra Santa Cruz, San Luis Valley Museum, and Trinidad State Junior College Valley Campus.

Food tickets for $5 can be purchased in advance through Adams State Athletics by calling 719-587-7401, or at the event, and will be redeemed by any of the food vendors at Hispanic Heritage Day. Adams State Athletics appreciates the support of Swire Coca-Cola.
