President Svaldi will speak at “Last Lecture” event
If this were his last opportunity to speak to students, what would Adams State University President David Svaldi say? Community and campus members are invited to find out during the 2014 Autumn@Adams Last Lecture. The event begins at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 10, in McDaniel Hall room 101. The discussion is free and open to the public. Free refreshments will be served.
Svaldi's lecture will address being a change leader....or coping with change. "As individuals we can either go with the flow and be the victims of change or become leaders and lead needed change."
Svaldi will have served a full decade as president upon his retirement, planned for summer of 2015. He was named President in June, 2006, after serving as Acting and Interim President since July 2005. Svaldi is in his 28th year at Adams State, having joined the faculty as an associate professor of communications in 1986.
Under Svaldi's leadership, Adams State achieved university status in 2012. His tenure also saw record- setting enrollments and expansion of academic programs, including the university's first doctoral program. From 2008 through the present, Svaldi oversaw $65 million in campus renovations and construction, including creation of the Campus Green and Rex Stadium, as well as the current renovation of Richardson Hall, the oldest building on campus.
Current, full-time Adams State students who attend the Last Lecture will be eligible to win a door prize for a $250 scholarship, for the 2015 spring semester.
McDaniel Hall is located on First Street, on the north side of campus near the stoplight. Parking is located east of McDaniel Hall. Adams State parking lots do not require permits after 5 p.m.
