Adams State College adopts e2Campus campus alert system (12-05-07)

Adams State College will launch a state-of-the-art campus notification system early in the spring semester, according to Adams State Dean of Student Affairs, Ken Marquez.

The new system, powered by e2Campus, will allow college officials to send instant text alerts directly to registered subscribers' cell phones and email accounts. The notification system will be used to communicate urgent news during any potential emergency, such as a snow delay or closing, homeland security advisory, weather warning, fire, crime watch, or other event. It will be available to all registered students, faculty, and staff.

"We tested the system with administrators during our November 11 disaster drill, and it worked great," Marquez said. "It's a real convenient system for everyone, because it reaches people whether they are on or off campus."

System registration will begin in early February; the campus will receive more information after the spring 2008 semester begins.

"It's important everyone sign up," said Adams State Director of Public Safety, Dr. Joel Shults. "Although e2Campus is an excellent system that can notify the entire campus within minutes, it only works if you take a minute to register yourself in the system."
