Xperimental Theatre features four one-act comedies

Jon Schneider's and Brad Greening's, Adams State College senior theatre students, appreciation for Ethan Coen's humor led to directing "Almost Offices", an evening of four one-act plays, sure to deliver laughs.

Coen's, Academy Award winning director and writer, comedies take a twisted and hilarious look at life in the workplace. Greening researched and found the original screenplays online, and he and Schneider connected to the content.

Greening said he "knew immediately" he wanted to direct the plays after reading the scripts. "I enjoy being the facilitator and watching the plays all come together." The four one-act plays contain visual humor and fast paced dialogue. Greening plans on pursuing character acting, after graduating in May. "This semester has been one of my best experiences in theatre. I am doing all comedy." Besides directing the one-acts, Greening stars in the production, "The Amazing Food Detective."

"Brad and I are funny people and wanted to direct humorous plays," Schneider said. His favorite part of directing is "making art with my closest friends." He will graduate in May and hopes to develop a career in light design. "Lighting design is a hands-on art form that not a lot of people notice. I like being involved in an art form that impacts people without being obvious."

"Almost Offices," for mature audiences, opens at 7:30 p.m. Monday, March 5, in the Adams State College Xperimental Theatre and continues nightly through Friday, March 9. Tickets are now on sale, call 719-587-8499 for reservations.
