Dead Man Walking book clubs forming
(01-30-06)
ALAMOSA (January 30) - San Luis Valley residents have a unique opportunity to get together with old friends and meet new ones by participating in one the of 17 book clubs created to read and discuss the national best seller "Dead Man Walking" by Sister Helen Prejean.
The book clubs are part of the Adams State College Dead Man Walking Theatre Project. Along with a theatre production and book clubs, there will be an art exhibition, a symposium examining issues of justice and forgiveness, and an exonerated death row inmate speaking on the Adams State campus. A highlight of the project is the visit of former Nobel Peace Prize nominee Sister Prejean for the opening two days of the production.
"With Sister Helen coming to our campus, the book clubs offer an incredible to chance to read the book, see the play, and meet the author," said Dr. John Taylor, associate professor of theatre at Adams State College. "How often does that happen in our part of Colorado?"
