ASC Business Professors team with area health administrators
Adams State College School of Business professors Armando Valdez and Richard Vallone, along with Russ Johnson, San Luis Valley Regional Medical Center, Leonard Snow, and Konnie Martin, Valley Wide Health Systems, will present at the Annual Colorado Rural Health Association Conference in Copper Mountain the week of June 16.
The presentation, "Grow Your Own," takes mangers inside health facilities and presents them with customized professional development courses which assist them in achieving a better understanding of their own health care organizations.
According to Vallone, he, along with Valdez, Linda Reid, professor of business, and Pat McIntyre, associate professor of business, have offered professional development courses for the SLV Regional Medial Center and Valley Wide Health Systems.
"The goal of the joint partnership between Adams State, the hospital and Valley Wide, is to further our development of our health care administration programs at Adams State and to identify needs of the rural health care community throughout Colorado," Vallone said.
The courses focus on specific issues within the local institutions. "When Adams State started its health care administration program we wanted to establish a program that brought the traditional and non-traditional students a full 360 degrees in their career paths," Vallone said. "The joint effort by Adams State and the local health care institutions ensures the training of rural health care professionals for the future."
