Habitat for Humanity Green Home course offered at Adams State College
Learn how to construct an energy efficient home and provide affordable housing in the San Luis Valley through a workshop series sponsored by Habitat for Humanity, ASC Developmental Education, and ASC Community Partnerships. The workshop will provide hands-on experience in constructing an environmentally friendly home, and create a stable environment with a low-income family. Workshop participants will receive experience in the use of ecologically sound materials, energy efficiency, basic construction skills, and teamwork, in a standard environment found at any construction site.
The workshop series is scheduled from 9 a.m. until 4 p.m. Thursday, Friday, and Saturday, May 20, 21, and 22. The first day will start with a brief orientation and basic instruction in the ASC Community Partnerships Building, located on the corner of Main Street and Edgemont, next to the Adams State Theatre Building, before transferring over to the worksite for the remainder of the workshops. Students and community members are welcome sign up for the workshop series. A $35.00 fee is required for this course, to cover training and other workshop expenses. Adams State students can register Habitat for Humanity Green Home, ID 179. Community Members can call ASC Community Partnerships at 719-587-8209 or email Karl Jolliff at Karl Jolliff to sign up or for more information.
