Demolition work makes way for construction progress at ASC

(05-28-2010)

Beginning Tuesday, June 1, parking on Stadium Dr. will be unavailable, due to demolition and construction work at Adams State College.

Erik van de Boogaard, associate vice president for Facilities Planning, Design & Construction, said site work is beginning on Stadium to create a new North Campus Green and pedestrian walkway. On June 1, crews will begin demolition of all street surfaces and sidewalks between First St. and Girault Hall.

Curb, gutter, sidewalk, and asphalt demolition has already begun north of Girault Hall between Stadium and Monterey to realign Monterey. Crews have also begun remodeling the Student Union Building's loading dock on First and Monterey.

While this work is underway, streets will be closed as follows, with access permitted for local traffic only:

  • Stadium Dr. southbound from Plachy Hall, detours west along Sunset to Murphy Dr.
  • Stadium Dr. northbound from First St.
  • Monterey at the junction of El Rio, detours east on El Sol
  • Monterey northbound from First St., detours north on Sierra
  • El Rio west of Sierra
