THIS EVENT HAS BEEN CANCELED.
The 2013 Adams State/Yamaha Sounds of Summer Percussion Camp included an outdoor concert the final day of camp.
Register now for the Adams State University Music Department's Third Annual Adams State/Yamaha Sounds of Summer Percussion Camp. Spots are still available for the camp, scheduled for June 22 through June 24, on the Adams State campus.
The camp provides intensive, hands-on instruction to young percussionists from grades 7 to 12 and covers drumline fundamentals, basic and advanced techniques, sectional playing, ensemble performance and leadership skills. Percussion players will study under the tutelage of Dave and Kathy Marvin, Bruce Anderson, 2001 Adams State alumnus; Eric Kruse, James Doyle, Adams State assistant professor of music; and members of the ASU Percussion Studio.
Dave Marvin has been involved with the marching percussion activity for more than 30 years. His arrangements and design consulting sessions are highly sought after in the marching percussion community. Currently, he is the director/arranger of the new Denver Broncos Stampede Drumline. His wife, Kathy, also performs on the Stampeded Drumline. Dave Marvin has been the percussion director at Northglenn High School for 30 years. In that time, they have earned 19 state titles as well as WGI gold, silver and bronze medals.
Kathy Marvin has been a percussion instructor and clinician in Colorado for the past 16 years. Currently she is a percussion instructor at Northglenn High School, directs a middle school percussion ensemble, and has an active private lesson percussion studio.
In addition to outstanding marching percussion instruction, there will be classes in Brazilian samba bateria, hand drumming, Zimbabwean marimba, drum set, steel band, and more.
