Award winning author on ASC campus November 30

Ruben Martinez, an Emmy Award winning journalist, poet and performer comes to the Adams State College campus at 7 p.m. Wednesday, November 30 in Carson Auditorium to read from his latest book, The New Americans.

He will meet with a student panel at noon Thursday, December 1 in the ES Building room 340.

Martinez is an associate professor in the Creative Writing Program at the University of Houston, and the author of Crossing Over: A Mexican Family on the Migrant Trail (Picador).

His most recent book is The New Americans (The New Press), a series of essays and cultural criticism on migration and the global era, is the companion book to the acclaimed Public Broadcast System television series of the same name.

Martinez's The Other Side: Notes from the New L.A., Mexico City and Beyond (Vintage Departures), a collection of essays and poetry, also won widespread critical acclaim.

He has been a guest commentator on National Public Radio's All Things Considered, and he has appeared as a political commentator on Nightline, Politically Incorrect, Frontline, and CNN.
