ASC Police arrest suspected cocaine dealer

(11-30-2009)

Adams State College Police arrested a student shortly after 10 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 19, for selling suspected cocaine out of his dorm room. Jamison Blair, age 19, of Eagle, Colo., was taken to the Alamosa County jail and held on $50,000 bond, according to Dr. Joel Shults, Chief of Adams State College Police Department.

The arrest resulted from investigation of another individual found in possession of suspected cocaine. Campus police officers obtained a search warrant and completed a thorough search of Blair's dormitory room Friday afternoon. The investigation is ongoing, and more arrests are expected, Shults said.

"Adams State College is a safe haven for learning. Drug dealing out of the dorms is intolerable and, we hope, an anomoly for our campus," he added, noting he has recently reorganized the college's small force to allow officers greater ability to follow up on cases. "We're having increased success in solving cases, and I credit my officer's dedication and skill for those results."
