Last ASC Science Saturday for 2009 is December 12
The Adams State College Science Activity Center continues with Science Saturday. On December 12, from 9 a.m. until noon, the Science Saturday guided activity involves "A Handful of Wire". Using wire and nails, we will make electromagnets, simple motors, and buzzers. The guided activity will consist of several mini-workshops, allowing guests to perform their own explorations using the equipment they built. This series of mini-workshops is best suited for younger people. The December 12 Science Saturday is the last one of 2009; they will continue in January.
Included in the morning activities are self-guided explorations with microscopes, interfaced to notebook computers, available for exploring the microscopic world; toy roller coasters, best for young people; science and music activities; and Mindstorm Legos.
No experience is necessary, just a willingness to experiment. The activities are free and open to the public. Parents are encouraged to bring their children; parents must remain with children 12-years-old and younger. Group activities will begin at 9 a.m. while visitors can explore the open activities at any time.
Visit the online calendar at adams.edu/calendar/ for dates and descriptions. Visitors are encouraged to learn at their own pace and to follow their own interest.
