The Adams State College Circle K and Community Partnerships event, Take a Pie for Cancer Relief, raised over $2200 on Sept. 27.

Associated costs for the event were sponsored. "Thank you to Adams State, Community Partnerships, Circle K, Facilities Services, and everyone who supported the event by either donating or participating in it," Tony Ross, adjunct professor of business and an organizer of the event, said.

The Regional Medical Center, Valley-Wide Health Systems, and Lifebridge all contributed and chose not to toss pies at Adams State President Dr. David Svaldi. "Dr Svaldi also escaped a pie that was to be tossed by a student, when an errant throw hit me instead of him," Ross said.

Students threw pies too.

Joe Kelso, an ASC wrestler won the pie eating championship. His prizes included a t-shirt, a $20 gift certificate to Safeway, two passes to Joyful Journey Hot Springs, and an option to toss a pie in Ross' face.

The pies in the pie eating contest were provided via Chef Charles Maloney from Sodexho Food Service, as was the whipped cream.
