SLV Museum hosts ASC faculty at reception (10-23-07)

Adams State College faculty members joined staff, volunteers and the board of directors of the new San Luis Valley Museum at a reception Oct. 16. The networking event was co-sponsored and coordinated by ASC Community Partnerships.
"The idea is to assist organizations such as the San Luis Valley Museum in connecting with college faculty and staff who may incorporate service-learning opportunities into their classes and programs" said Mary Hoffman, executive director of ASC Community Partnerships. "Students benefit from assisting organizations and businesses with real life projects" added Hoffman.
This was one of a series of events leading up to the San Luis Valley Museum's grand opening. The San Luis Valley Museum features several exhibits about early SLV culture, including models of the Wayside station in Alamosa and photos of early valley life, as well as exhibits on wildlife, World War II era military uniforms, old style clothing and equipment, and more.
"We have the resources, including intellectual human resources, to make the San Luis Valley a greater tourism destination" said John Brandt, SLV Museum board member.
