Art that feeds the hungry (10-02-08)

The Adams State College Art League, the art club on campus, is currently planning a project that will feed the hungry in a most artistic way.

The club is planning on building instillation art sculptures out of canned, and other packaged food items. The food items, from the sculptures, will then be donated to the food bank and distributed to deserving community members.

According to Dana Provence, associate professor of art and club sponsor, the goal is to have the artwork in place by the first week of November, in order for the food instillations to be displayed for a few weeks before Thanksgiving. "We want to pass out the food to families for the holidays," he said.

Currently the club is looking for artists interested in joining the project and donations of non-perishable food items for the instillation sculptures. For more information, contact Provence at 719-587-7823.
