Farm workers' views starts fifth annual Autumn@Adams at Adams State (09-04-08)

Kicking off the Fifth Annual Adams State College Autumn@Adams is an art exhibit by Annette Troncoso, a panel discussion on the farm workers with the SLV Immigration Resource Center and speaker Dr. Jim Jefferson, author and member of the Ute tribe. The events begin at 6 p.m. Monday, Sept. 15, in Carson Auditorium located in the Student Union Building.

Free refreshments will be served, there is no cost to Monday's events and all are open to the public.

Tuesday, Sept. 16, the Adams State College Classified Employees will be holding a baked potato sale, to raise money for their scholarship fund, at 5 p.m. in the Mall Court, located outside the Carson Auditorium in the Student Union Building. Beginning at 6 p.m., in Carson Auditorium will be a speaker on modern farming equipment followed by Drs. Sastry Jayanty and David Holm, from the Potato Research Center. Afterwards, Peggy Godfrey will read her poetry - the speakers and poetry are free and open to the public.

The theme, "Our Earth-Our Valley/Tierra Nuestra-Nuestro Valle" is dedicated to honoring and promoting the agricultural heritage of sustainable rural living in the San Luis Valley through inspiration and education.
