Autumn@Adams includes speaker Dr. Cathy Russell (09-04-2009)

Evolution and religion can be reconciled according to Dr. Cathy Russell, who earned a Ph.D. with a dissertation on the evolution of bacteria. She will present her research in two hands-on discussions on Wednesday, September 16 during the Adams State College Autumn@Adams "Transformations Begin Here/Las Transformaciones Empiezan Aqui".

Her first presentation, "Evolution of Grace: Walk Through Deep Time" begins at noon in the Student Life Center, located in the Student Union Building. Participants will explore 13.7 billion years of cosmic, biological, and cultural evolution. Her second topic, "Evolution of Grace: What DNA Tells Us About the Tree of Life", begins at 6 p.m. in ES room 103. Scientists have revealed a Tree of Life that shows what mystics have known for ages: that we are all one, and that diversity is an expression of underlying unity. Both events are free and open to the public.

Beginning at 5 p.m., preceding Russell's evening talk, is the second annual ASC Classified Employee Potato Bake Sale.

"Transformations Begin Here/Las Transformaciones Empiezan Aqui" is a forum to celebrate the creative impulse toward change. Events are scheduled from September 12 through September 18. For a complete schedule of events visit the website adams.edu and click on the Autumn@Adams icon, or call 719-587-7827.
