In Loving Memory of our Friend, Phil Lucero.
Phil filmed the Adams State University Title V Hilos Summer Institutes over the past three years and became a part of our Adams State University, Title V, Hilos family. Phil's visual language and artistry captured and documented the essence the Hilos Summer Instiute and produced a short film called, "Hilos Culturales." The short film was recently submitted to the Southern Colorado Film Festival and accepted for his aspiring film-making, what an honor! Those of us who have been fortunate enough to know and work with Phil know that we have lost a dear friend and an amazing artist. Our deepest sympathy to Vera Lucero and family. Phil will be deeply missed.
Letter from the Director
Dear ASU Colleagues,
The Adams State University, Title V Institutional Grant, is soliciting participants for its 4th and final Hilos Summer Institute, which will be held from July 19-22, 2015. The grant will select twenty faculty and staff members to attend the Institute. This year we’re excited to host the Institute at the ASU campus. Though the previous Institute setting in San Luis, Colorado was both beautiful and inspiring, we’re hopeful that bringing Hilos to ASU will allow faculty and staff to attend who, in the past, couldn’t be away from family for the duration of the Institute. As an added benefit of the local venue, we’re now able to invite previous Hilos participants to “come back to Hilos” and attend any or all of the daily sessions on an RSVP basis.
For the 20 full-time participants, a link to the application form and other information pertaining to this summer’s Institute can be found at www.adams.edu/titlev/hilos-summer-institute/ . Your application should include a letter of support (email is fine) from your Department Chair or Department Manager sent to the attention of Mike Nicholson, Title V Director, at firstname.lastname@example.org. The application deadline is 18 April and applicants will be notified by 25 April.
Full-time Hilos faculty participants will receive a daily stipend of up to $200/day for their participation ($100 for each 4 hours of participation). Full-time staff participants will receive a stipend for time spent beyond their normal 8-hour workday ($25/hour).
To ensure there is adequate seating, previous Hilos participants who would like to attend some or all of the daily sessions, should let the Title V Program Office know, in advance, which sessions you plan on attending. Please email Andrea Benton-Maestas (email@example.com) with your request. The daily schedule of events can be found at www.adams.edu/titlev/hilos-summer-institute/ .
If you have any questions concerning this summer’s Hilos Institute or regarding the application process, please feel free to contact either myself or Andrea Benton-Maestas by phone (Mike: 719-588-6792; Andrea: 719-587-8333) or email.
Thank you for your interest in the 2015 Hilos Summer Institute. We’re looking forward to a wonderful program and hope you’ll join us on campus this July!
