The Design emphasis includes two core foundational classes (Studio One and Two) as well as a selection of Graphic Design classes. These include both print and web based design approaches. Courses include: Typography, InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop, and Design for the Internet and Advanced Graphic Design. The courses are instructed predominantly with software from the Adobe Creative Suite.

The courses focus on the fundamentals of design and the history and practice of visual communication. Students undertake projects which encompass a wide variety of approaches ranging from traditional media to digital imaging and layout applications. Advanced projects cover practical case studies such as corporate identity, poster and brochure layout, while emphasizing the relationship between information, identity and culture.

The design lab is equipped with current hardware and software for both graphic design and digital photography. The graphics lab is also open for general student use 20-30 hours a week.
