Sponsored by the Colorado School Counselor Association (CSCA), the CSCA Induction Program is designed to meet the requirements to become a School Counselor in Colorado for individuals who currently are licensed as an LPC or LCSW in Colorado. The CSCA Induction program focuses on the tenants and skills necessary for the school counseling profession. The Induction Program is designed to follow the American School Counseling Association (ASCA) National Model (3rd Edition). The goal of the CSCA Induction Program is to ensure each Induction candidate is prepared to pass the Praxis and fulfill the role of school counselor in the state of Colorado.

The CSCA Induction Program requires inductees to hold a valid Colorado license – LPC or LCSW. Each induction candidate must enroll in the CSCA Induction Program for one full year. The course year will begin in September and end in May. Induction candidates will complete 48 contact hours from CSCA and receive 3 graduate inservice credits from Adams State University that can be presented to CDE for provisional licensure as a School Counselor. All other licensure requirements must be met as well.

Expectations

  • Enroll in the Adams State Induction program
  • Seek out or have appointed a mentor from your school district
  • Complete all coursework as assigned
